A local man ordered a collectible gold coin worth thousands of dollars. But when he didn’t get what he paid for, Solve It 7 helped him cash in. Brandon Gunnoe has the story. “I love the beauty of it and the satisfaction of collecting,” Barry said. Barry’s excitement shines like the coins he collects. “A 1926 standing liberty quarter. It’s known as one of the most beautiful coins ever minted,” Barry said. Barry’s fascination started when he was young.“The first time I started collecting coins, I had a paper route. I was about 10,” Barry said. And he still loves collectibles, like the books and records he sells in his Newton store. “I’m an avid collector of everything,” Barry said. Barry recently bought this one-ounce gold coin for more than $2800 from the U.S. Mint.“I was very excited about it. I had to go to the computer at exactly 12 o’clock noon, on March 3...Red Sox rally for five runs late to beat Braves 5-3, sweep series

Wednesday night marked one of the best pitcher’s duels we’ve seen at Fenway Park this season, a heavyweight battle between 24-year-old phenoms Brayan Bello and Spencer Strider. But in the end, it was the Red Sox offense that stole the show.Unable to get anything going against Strider for much of the game, the Red Sox rallied for five unanswered runs late to beat the Atlanta Braves 5-3. Triston Casas led the way, going 2 for 2 with two walks and a solo home run, and Justin Turner delivered the exclamation point with the go-ahead two-run double to cap off a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh. The Red Sox flipped the script on a night where it looked like one small miscue might mean the difference between Bello and Strider. The young standouts, who came into the night as two of only five pitchers age 24 or under who have recorded at least 2.0 wins above replacement so far this season, more than lived up to the hype. Each mowed down their respective opposition, with S...Patriots photo page

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — In an escalation of Russia’s anger at Ukraine and its Western backers, Russia refused to speak at a U.N. Security Council meeting called to disuss Moscow’s recent devastating attacks on the key port of Odesa immediately following its refusal to extend the Black Sea grain deal. The confrontation began at the start of a council session called by Russia on the divided Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Russia’s deputy U.N. ambassador, Dmitry Polyansky ,protested that Britain, which holds the council presidency, was allowing only two briefers and Moscow wanted a third — Archbishop Gideon of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Ukrainian government has cracked down on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church over its historic ties to the Russian Orthodox Church, whose leader, Patriarch Kirill, supported Russian President Vladimir Putin over the invasion of Ukraine.Polyansky accused the UK of bias, censorship and obstruction for limiting the number of briefers. WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell briefly left his own press conference Wednesday after stopping his remarks midsentence and staring off into space for several seconds. McConnell approached the podium for his weekly press conference and began speaking about the annual defense bill on the floor, which he said was proceeding with “good bipartisan cooperation.” But he then appeared to lose his train of thought, trailing off with a drawn-out “uh.” The Kentucky senator then appeared to freeze up and stared vacantly for around 20 seconds before his colleagues in Republican leadership, who were standing behind him and could not see his face, grabbed his elbows and asked if he wanted to go back to his office. He did not answer, but slowly walked back to his office with an aide and Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, a former orthopedic surgeon who is the No. 3 Republican in the Senate. After sitting down in his office for several minutes, McConnell later returned to the pre...Samsung unveils foldable smartphones in a bet on devices with bending screens

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — This summer — as blistering heat waves scorched the Southwest, wildfire smoke from Canada choked much of North America, a drought in the central U.S. devastated soybean and corn crops, and storms flooded parts of the Northeast — the perils of climate change weigh heavily across the country. While the human toll of these extreme weather events is at the forefront, the cost burden and questions about how to prepare for the future are also being considered.Lawmakers on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget sat down Wednesday to discuss the fiscal impacts of climate change on the nation’s infrastructure. They turned to Louisiana for its hard-earned expertise. Gov.
