Crews tackle rapidly spreading brush fire in Riverside County

Crews continued to work on extinguishing a rapidly spreading brush fire in the Temecula area on Thursday night.Named the “Frogs Fire,” the blaze was first reported around 3:30 p.m. near Santa Rita and Anza Roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.By 4:30 p.m., the flames had spread to 20 acres and by 5 p.m., the fire had grown to 33 acres with zero percent containment. A little after 6 p.m., crews reported about 20% containment and the stoppage of all forward movement. Over 100 firefighters responded to the scene and additional ground and air resources, including four air tankers and two helicopters, battled the flames.An evacuation warning was issued and later lifted around 6 p.m. for the area South of Highway 79, East of Butterfield Stage, North of Santa Rita Road, and West of Los Caballos Road. (KRON) -- A victim was robbed of their belongings after an armed robbery Thursday afternoon, the Oakland Police Department said. The incident happened just before 3:15 p.m. on the 4000 block of MacArthur Boulevard. 2 minors arrested in scooter robbery at Oakland BART station: police Police said two suspects were armed during the alleged robbery. Both suspects escaped the scene in an unknown vehicle. OPD did not confirm where exactly on the 4000 block of MacArthur Boulevard it happened, but there is a Citi Bank at 4017 MacArthur Blvd.The alleged armed robbery comes one day after OPD warned the community about an uptick in robberies near ATMs in Oakland. DENVER (KDVR) -- A second state park's swimming areas in metro Denver have been closed due to higher levels of E. coli detected in the water, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a release Thursday. Chatfield State Park's swim beach has been temporarily closed after tests showed elevated levels of E. coli in the water, CPW said. The levels registered unsafe bacteria levels above the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment requirements. High E. coli levels close Cherry Creek swim area Signage has been put up around the park informing visitors of the closure but boating access and hand-launched vessels are not restricted, CPW said. Cherry Creek State Park swim areas were also temporarily closed Thursday after routine tests showed elevated levels of E. coli in its waters. A mother and daughter who live in an apartment complex in Fort Lauderdale where, police said, a shooting involving minors took place, said bullets came into their unit, as detectives continue their search for the people responsible.Speaking with 7News on Thursday, the 42-year-old mother showed 7News the bullet holes in her front door, window, and concrete wall of her unit, where she’s lived for 20 years.“It went through my door, through the outside to the door jamb, and I guess the bullet is inside,” she said. “When it was all said and done, it was over 40 rounds.”According to Fort Lauderdale Police, Wednesday night’s shooting left five people injured. (WSVN) — It took a team effort to save a manatee stranded on a Florida beach.More than a dozen people put in the back-breaking work to carry the sea cow to a truck in Ponce Inlet, near Daytona Beach, Wednesday afternoon.Body camera video from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office captured rescuers as they carried the marine mammal into the back of the truck.It was no easy feat.
